Homeowners and developers are now embarking on a residential survey to improve their living conditions.
The Residential Insulation Association of Australia (RIAA) has partnered with the University of Queensland to conduct a residential energy audit, which will look at how residential energy systems can better meet the needs of older Australians.
It is expected to take four to six months to complete.
The RIAA says the study will take into account all the energy and infrastructure requirements for the properties it will be monitoring.
The agency says older Australians will be able to access an interactive website to learn about the results and how the government can support them.
